Darrell Hurst Obituary

GASTONIA - Darrell Drew Hurst, 83, of 4711 Hickory Grove Road, died Nov. 22, 2008, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.
He was a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Mitchell J. Hurst and Gertrude Jeanette Taylor Hurst.
VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia
FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Founders Chapel, McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia
INTERMENT: Gaston Memorial Park
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
SURVIVORS: Wife of 55 years, Laura Jo Perry Hurst; son, Roger and wife Karen Abernathy Hurst of Gastonia; grandchildren, Mitch Hurst and wife, Stacy, Janine Hurst Skidmore and husband, Stephen, and Robbie Hurst and friend, Sarah Cherry, all of Gaston County; great grandchildren, Madison, Makayla and Hunter Hurst, all of Gaston County; brothers-in-law, Abe Stroupe of Cramerton, Jimmy Perry and wife, Billie of Dallas; sisters-in-law, Molly Sue Black and husband Butler, DeLonda and Martha Perry, all of Dallas
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: Parents; sisters, Lorene Stroupe and Mary Nell Hurst

Darrell was a friend of mine for many years! Roger grew up with my son, Danny Blair and was always admired by me! The Hurst family were a wonderful group. My best to all during this trying time.
