David Britton Obituary

GASTONIA - David Ross Britton, 77, died peacefully on March 5, 2013, at Stanley Total Living Center.

A native of Gastonia, he was a son of the late Marshall Ernest and Alma Mayes Britton.

He was a US Army Veteran and a member of Parkwood Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Parkwood Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Long of-ficiating.

Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church and other times at the home his daughter, Leslie.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sarah "Sally" Hamrick Britton; daughters, Leslie Britton Adams and husband Bobby, Laurie Britton Dickerson all of Gastonia; grandchildren, Ross, Sarah & Lauren Adams and Cole Dickerson; brothers and sisters in law, Reggie & Frances Britton of Gastonia, Kelly & Gail Britton of Tucson, Ari-zona, Dennis & Becky Britton of Lincolnton, John Britton of Belmont and Robert & Pat Britton of Clover, SC; sisters and brothers in law, Nancy Smith of Bessemer City, Louise Hope of Gastonia, Alice Kirby of Cherryville, Martha & Boyd Mayhew of Gastonia, Dottie & Donnie Driver of Forest City; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1729 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054.

To David's family: I am sorry to hear of David's passing. I met him on a couple of occasions and found him to be a very nice person. My father, who was his uncle, spoke of him and he held him in high regards. May the blessings of our Father be upon you and your family at all times but more especially during this period of time.
