Dear Kanupp and Paysour families,
Please know that you are all in our prayers. There really are no words that really can help you at this time. Just know that you have many people praying for you. Time will ease the pain, but it never goes away when you lose someone you love so much. We pray for strength and peace for you.

Matt, I'm so sorry to hear about Elaine's passing. Mom had told me last Sunday at church she had heard that she had been in CMC-Lincolnton and then came home for few days but had to go back to hospital and then was sent to Robin Johnson this past week. My stepdad passed away there 4 1/2 years ago and it is a truly wonderful place with a great staff when you are dealing with the most difficult time of your life, losing a loved one. I'm so sorry for Camden and McKenzie's loss of their mother as well because I know Elaine truly loved her children and you more than words could ever say. She was a great person and friend to me and loved you and her family dearly. I had sent her a text on Messenger this past week because mom said Lauren at church had told her she was in too much pain and too weak to have visitors or speak very much so I hoped and thought maybe she would see my message to her trying to help lift her up and my praying for a miracle that she would be healed and be okay but I guess that wasn't God's will which sometimes is very hard for us to understand and accept. Thank you so much for what you did at Duke Power a few years back for me to get my power finally turned off at my Mount Holly house when the tree had fallen and destroyed it on February 24, 2016, and no one at Duke Power that I spoke to on the phone seemed to realize the urgency of getting it turned off so myself and the restoration crew could go in to see what they could do to stabilize things in order for me to be able to get in and salvage what I could of my belongings from the damage. You got the job done and I remember my thinking that I had Elaine's phone number in my phone from when she and I became friends when she worked at Langson Law Firm and I started working at Page Dolley Morgan's law office down the street from there and we did a lot of work together over the phone scheduling things for the attorneys to handle and then you all started attending St. Paul's so our paths met again after I left Ed Bogle's law office right beside Langson Law Firm in 2014. I called her remembering that you worked for Duke Power hoping that you may could help me get my power turned off in Mount Holly and you got the job done just like I figured you would. She seemed glad to help me however she could after my going through that most devastating ordeal which took me 2 years to get everything of mine out after moving the Holden Beach and getting married June 24, 2017, and I finally had house demolished and sold my land there this past February. Elaine did have a contagious smile and she was a very sweet person. She was also a very smart person at her job as a Legal Secretary which I was as well and sometimes I would call her asking her how to fill out a form or how to do something that was new to me having not worked before in domestic law and she knew a lot of the ropes I didn't and was always happy to guide me through whatever I needed at the time. I will keep you and your children and both of your families in my prayers to help you have the strength to get through this most difficult time of her passing away. I'm sure you are all exhausted because I know Elaine had told me she had been battling cancer since July of 2016. After my moving to the beach, she and I lost touch somewhat but I would always message her by text or Messenger wondering how she was doing and telling her even though I had moved away she was still in my thoughts and prayers and I still considered her my friend. The picture she had on facebook I think this past Easter when she was wearing the royal blue outfit was a great picture of her with you and the kids and she looked great even though she was fighting cancer then. I know you will cherish that family picture the rest of your life. I remember when she was pregnant with Camden and her telling me over the phone that you and her were expecting your first child together and how excited she was to become a mother once again. From seeing her at church with your kids and hearing her talk about when they were sick at home and she had to miss work to take care of them, I know she was a wonderful wife and mother to you all. Again I hate I can't come to the service Wednesday but I will be working that day and am 4 hours away so won't be able to make it but you all will be in my thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks and I've had her on my mind a lot lately after hearing that she had gotten bad news and that there wasn't anything else the doctors could do to help her which I hoped wouldn't be the case. I plan to come to St. Paul's the weekend of October 12th for a family reunion with my mom's family after church that Sunday so may see you then if you are there. Take care of yourself and the children
