George Carpenter Obituary
He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Robert Luther Carpenter and Vera Wentz Carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Carpenter.
Mr. Carpenter retired from Lockheed Martin as a Computer Analyst. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. An avid Tar Heel fan, Mr. Carpenter was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Sara Friday Carpenter; son Kevin Carpenter (Kim) of Duncan, SC; daughters Paige Eastwood (Billy) of Greensboro; Debra Jefferson (Jeff) of Greenville, NC; brother Jerry Carpenter (Shirley) of Gastonia; sister-in-law Faye Carpenter of Gastonia; grandchildren Jordan and Jared Carpenter; Megan and Ryan Eastwood; Corbin and Dylan Jefferson; brothers-in-law Alfred Friday (Willa) of Atlanta, Ga. and Leonard Friday of Raleigh.
Family and friends of Mr. Carpenter are invited to attend his visitation beginning noon Saturday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with his funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in Founders Chapel. The Rev. Brack East will officiate.
Burial will follow at Lutheran Chapel Church Cemetery.
