James Gryder Obituary
He was born November 22, 1926, in Meadow, TX to James R. and Maudie Gryder.
James met and married the love of his life, Dorothy McCann, in 1947. They spent most of their lives in the Permian Basin. He worked for Haliburton for 30 plus years, and then he went into the construction business with his son Duane.
Richard was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a hardworking, loving and caring Christian man. He set an example for all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and two daughters Dorothy Louise Gryder, and Jo Reta Stubblefield.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Gryder of Odessa, son R. Duane Gryder and wife Janet of Aubrey, TX; daughter Carla Clark and husband Robin of Odessa, son-in-law Alan Stubblefield of Lubbock, TX and daughter Ruby Mayo and husband, Stan of Lake Arthur, NM; sister Lorene Leatherman of Stephenville, TX; eight grandchildren: Alanna Solis, Valissa Jones, Jeremy Gryder, Andrea Thomas, James Clark, Millie McClure, Andy Mayo, and Aquilla Mayo; and twelve great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Live Oak Cemetery in Dublin, TX.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa.
