Jimmy Gibson Obituary
Mr. Gibson was born May 22, 1944 in Mecklenburg County, to the late Grady Reid Gibson and Anna Lee McSwain.
He had worked in a printing shop and was of the Baptist faith. He had won many PICA awards for career. He was a train collector, reading train books, watching photography and listening to scanners for trains.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Ruby Brooks Gibson; a daughter, Jennifer Gibson; two sons, Justin Gibson, Troy Gibson; two grandchildren, JR. Gibson, Pam Duncan; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cynthia Gibson, Renee Ferguson; a brother, Ronald Gibson.
The family will conduct a memorial service from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Rankin Lake (Lake Front).

I do realize that this is coming very late, but I found some old videos of my dad and "Funny Jim" (as I called him, since my dad was also a Jim) watching and photographing trains...and I was so sad to find this obituary. I have so many fond memories of Jim. He was the sweetest and funniest man, always quick with a joke and never tired of playing jump rope with what was probably a very annoying little girl. I am so very sorry to learn of his passing and all of my prayers and condolences are sent to the family, however late they may be in arriving. I'm sure he has St Peter and the Good Lord chuckling this very minute!
