John Caldwell Obituary

MAIDEN - John Phillip Caldwell Jr., 83, passed away Oct. 7, 2010, at Abernathy Laurels in Newton.

Born March 23, 1927, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late John P. Caldwell Sr. and Ora Crouse Caldwell.

He was a member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden and retired from Broyhill Furniture after more than 40 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Frances Cornelius Caldwell; four brothers, Richard, Fred, Floyd and Wini-fred Caldwell; four sisters, Elizabeth Cline, Minnie Caldwell, Florence Reinhardt and Gerlie Goodson; a grandson, Steven Christopher Barnes and a daughter- in- law, Brenda P. Caldwell.

He is survived by son, Danny Caldwell of Newton; daughter, Dianne Barnes and husband Steve of Stanley; two grandsons, Daniel and Adam Barnes; granddaughter, Paige Prusia and husband Kevin; sister, Margie Shaw of Maiden; great-granddaughter, Emily Prusia.

The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden with the Revs. Patrick W. Purdy and Brad Thie officiating.

The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be John's Sunday School Class and Charles Beck's Prayer Group.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden.
