Kenneth "Kenny" Lloyd Rumfelt, age 73, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer July 3, 2021. He was born April 28, 1948 in Mecklenburg County, a son of the late George Harding and Thelma Thompson Rumfelt.
Kenny proudly served in the U.S. Army and retired from Duke Energy after 47 years of faithful service. Kenny was a devoted husband, a loving father and a loyal friend. Kenny was woven into the fabric of the Belmont community. He volunteered with the Optimist Club for many years helping and mentoring local youth. His wisdom will be passed on for generations to come. Kenny was an avid golfer and enjoyed being active in his retirement.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 39 years, Barbara Fraley Rumfelt of Belmont; sons Shannon Rumfelt and wife Danyelle of Huntersville, Wesley Rumfelt of Belmont; grandchildren Adrienne and Aaron Rumfelt; brothers Mickey Rumfelt and wife Elaine of Belmont, Dennis Rumfelt and wife Letresia of SC; several nieces, nephews and many extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:15 pm, Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia, 700 S. New Hope Road. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm in the Founders Chapel with Rev. Joe Lawing officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, www.v.org.
