Laura Neal Obituary

BESSEMER CITY - Laura Holland Neal, 83, of 309 East Louisiana Ave., passed away Jan. 17, 2012, at Kings Mountain Hospice House surrounded by her children and family who loved and cared for her.

She was born Sept. 4, 1928 in Gaston County to the late Furman Elijah and Willie Kale Holland.

She worked in textiles and retail but got her most pleasure greeting customers at 'The Pier'. She was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed following her grandchildren in their sports and many activities. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church, Bessemer City.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Neal, Sr.; brothers: Pat, Alvin (Buddy) and Neal Holland; sister: Hazel Jones; grandson: Jim Neal and granddaughter: Brandi Steele.

She is survived by her children: Brenda Lovelace and Edward, Kings Mountain; Charles Neal, Jr. and Phyllis, Gastonia; Gloria Ratchford and Joe, Dal-las; James Neal Sr. and Brenda, Gastonia; Becky Neal, Rock Hill; Roxie Miller and Brad, Stanley; Michelle Price and Anthony, Dallas.

A loving grandmother to: Todd Lovelace and Kelly, Erin Lovelace and Daven Hunsicker, Chris and Conner Neal; Matt Ratchford and Nikki; Seth and Robin Ratchford, Dereck Neal, Stephen Riddle and Frances, Shellie Dulin and Les, Kale Steele and Haley, Brady and Emily Miller; Garrin, Josh and Rachel Price; great-grandchildren, Erin Thompson and Neil, Tasha, Stephanie, Brandi and Jeremy Riddle, Samantha and Luke Rikard, Alexus Neal, Austin and Megan Bowen, Kayden Weaver, Fenix Conner. Great-Great Granddaughter: Kaytlin Thompson; Brothers: Jake of Bessemer City; C.J. of Kings Mountain; Dean of Hopewell, Va.; sister, Jean Jones of Cleveland, Ohio; special sisters-in-law: Mary Fraley and Earlene Ashe, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bessemer City First Wesleyan Church Family Life Center

Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at First Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Robert Fraley, Jerry Millwood, Wes Brown and Dick Whitener of-ficiating

Interment will be private at Westview Gardens.
