Mark,
A random internet search led me to this tragic news, and I am deeply sorry to hear about Matthew's passing so early in life.
I haven't talked to you in...umm...maybe 20+ years? We went to Junior High School together in Charlotte, NC. Our clique was you, me, Jeremy Jolly, etc.
My thoughts are with you, and I wish all the best to you & your family.

We are very sorry to hear about your loss. We just recently learned that he had been sick when you came to Little Ceasars and spoke to Kateland. I was on the gazette webpage and saw the article about the balloon release at NB Elementary. I am sure that it isn't much help but now he is at peace wtih God. Our prayers are with your family.

Dear Jennifer, Megan and Mark, I was so very saddened to hear the news. I have marveled from the beginning of Matthew's journey through this illness at the miracles God gave him. You and your family went from no hope to Blessed hope. I followed Matthew's journey through Caringbridge.org. My church, Harmony United Methodist in Concord has kept Matthew and your family in prayer during his illness. I showed his photo one Sunday and told them "look what prayer can do." I previously worked (in the same building at Copy Service & Supply)with your (Jennifer) cousin Maria Cline and learned of Matthew's illness through her. I immediately got all of my church members praying and all of my web prayer wheels started. Even after I left the company I continued to follow Matthew's journey and the prayers never stopped. On your last update Sept. 3rd he seemed to be thriving so imagine my shock when I received the email the other day. My granddaughter walked over to me, put her arms around me and said, "It will be ok Nana, he's well now and he is playing with Jesus." It's amazing how those simple words from a 5 1/2 year old brought such a peace over me. I know Matthew is in a better place, that doesn't make the pain of losing him go away. But, it just makes us strive to be better Christians so we will assure ourselves we will see him one day. I never had the chance to meet him but I feel I know him from Caringbridge.com. My heart hurts for you, I can't imagine your pain, I've never been where you are right now. Rejoice now for he is walking hand in hand now with Jesus. Matthew was a fighter, I am sure you are very proud of his bravery he has shown through his battle with cancer. He was on my mind all day Sunday, now I know why. I will continue to keep your family in prayer. God Bless You,
John Dorsey

I remember the day that I went home with Megan from school. Later that day her brother came home with her Dad. We had so much fun, just playing games and everything. When Matthew came home i knew he had cancer but that didn't affect me or make me judge him the wrong way.He was so energetic you couldn't even tell. I wish i would have had another chance to go over there before this happened but things happened for a reason.I will miss Matthew truly but i will always remember the time i had with you all.My prayers will alwasy be with you.

I Do Believe by Jennifer Janiszewski
There is nothing I can do,
to make him come back.
There are no words I can say,
that can replace the words you long to hear.
There are no answer's I can give,
that will satisfy your questions
There is not another soul I can introduce you to that will ever replace his. And, there is no love I can offer that will ever replace the love you shared. I can not promise your broken heart will ever be complete.
I will not say it could have been worse.
I will not deny it was a tragedy
I will not lie and tell you he will come back.
He never really left. I do promise he hears you when you speak.
I will say he loves you no matter the distance.
I will not deny he is in a better place
And, I will not lie; he is waiting to greet you someday.
He is every step you take.
He is in everything you do.
He is the air you breathe.
He is every beat of your heart.
“He is like the wind. You can not see him...but you will always feel him" .
May God comfort you during this time.
With love and Prayers,
Angel Hildebrand

Dear Jenn and Family,
You have walked a journey no one would willingly chose. And through it all, you kept the focus on Christ. He has honored your faithfulness. Jenn, I will always remember the time you spoke to your concerned co-workers in the lobby of the Y. We all marveled at your faith and dignity that day. Your family will remain in my prayers. Please come visit, if you are ever in Charleston, SC (Pam has my number).

Matt was my favorite right fielder throughout the years that I have coached for Belmont Parks and Rec. He always brought a smile to my face when I would look out in right field and there he sat playing with the bug in the grass or chasing the butterfly above his head and laughing. It was a pleasure to coach him and to get to know your family. My daughter was recently diagnosed with a serious disease and is currently taking chemo from the same oncology group at CMC. We actually saw Matthew's picture the other day in the lab room. I have no idea what you must be going through right now and I'm not sure I would be able to handle it however I do know everything happens for a reason and I'm certain Matt is having a great time in heaven chasing butterflies and playing with the bugs. We will continue to pray for you as we have done over the past few years.

It's extremely difficult to lose a child and a such a child that God has lent us while here on earth. I encountered Matt only once during his earthly journey and was so impressed by his presence. God has truly blessed the Bright family, not only with Matt, but with Megan, too! May God continue to be with you and know that our Saviour has restored Matt to perfect form! He will be missed.
