Mike West Obituary

GASTONIA - Michael Wayne West, 52, died Feb. 22, 2011, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 3, 1958, in Gaston County to the late William Wayne and Mary Moore West.
Mike served in the United States Navy and was a member of Westview Baptist Church. He was known to his family and friends as "mouth."

Memorials service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Westview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating.

Visitation is 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

He is survived by a daughter, Dana West of Kings Mountain; brother, Mitch West and wife Mona, Jeff West all of Gastonia; sister, Tammy Wise of Gas-tonia; uncle, Gene Moore of Florida.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO MIKES FAMILY THAT I AM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.I WORKED WITH MIKE FOR MANY YEARS BACK IN THE EARLY 80'S,AND YES HE DID EARN THAT NAME (MOUTH)MITCHELL YOU KNOW YOU WORKED WITH US ALSO.BUT MIKE'S MOUTH WAS IN A FUNNY WAY,YOU EXPECTED IT,HE WAS FUN TO WORK WITH.I LOST CONTACT WITH MIKE AFTER HE AND I BOTH LEFT THAT JOB AT THAT PLACE AND MOVED ON TO BETTER JOBS.THEN I FOUND OUT HE MOVED A 1/4 OF A MILE FROM ME.I WENT TO HIS HOUSE SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO SHOOT THE BREEZE.DANA WAS VERY YOUNG THEN.I LOST CONTACT AGAIN,BUT THOUGHT ABOUT HIM A LOT,AND ALSO YOU MITHELL,AND I CAME TO YOUR HOUSE A FEW TIMES ALSO TO VISIT WITH YOU AND (MONA)AS I ALWAYS CALLED HER.GOD BLESS ALL,I KNOW IT IS SOMETHING WE NEVER EXPECT,BUT IT HAPPENS.I KNOW. I LOST MY OLDEST BROTHER A LITTLE OVER 1 YEAR AGO MITCHELL,IT HAPPENED OVER WHERE YOU WORK NOW.IT WAS A SHOCK,I LOVED HIM VERY MUCH,JUST LIKE I KNOW YOU LOVED MIKE.AND I MISS HIM,AND I KNOW I WILL SEE HIM AGAIN.JUST PRAY,IT WORKS.YOU WILL SEE MIKE AGAIN.JUST LIKE THE WONDERFULL REV. JERRY MILLWOOD SAID,NO PAIN,NO SUFFERING,NO HURTING,IT WILL ALWAYS BE WONDERFULL.KEEP IN TOUCH MITCHELL.YOUR FRIEND STEVE WHITE.

I would like to offer my most sincere condolences to Mike's family, especially his daughter Dana. I worked at Freightliner with "Mouth" and know that he will be sorely missed by his work family. He was a good worker and friend to many people. God bless you all.
