Robert Frazier Obituary

GASTONIA - Robert Paul Frazier, 57, died May 26, 2008, in Monroe County, Fla.

He was a native of Guthrie, Okla., son of the late Kathryn Edwards and William Leslie Frazier.

A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at Union Road Church of God.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the ministry center.

Pastor Frazier was called to preach at the age of 16, graduated from Northwest Bible College in Minot, N.D., and served as State Youth Director for the Dakotas. He later was appointed as the Maryland State Youth Director and then was called to serve as Senior Pastor of the Aurora-Metro Church of God in Denver, Colo. There, for twenty years, he served as chaplain of the fire de-partment and served on the Rocky Mountain Regional Church of God Council. In 1998, the Fraziers were called to Gastonia as Senior Pastor of the Union Road Church of God. He developed "Basis of Ministry," a lay-ministry concept, reflecting his passion "that every believer is a minister," which has multiplied ministry in his local church as well as being utilized by pastors across America and internationally. His calling to help others discover and develop their gifting for ministry was the basis for his servant leadership as pastor, evangelist, state youth director, college professor, author, counselor, preacher and friend. As an Ordained Bishop, he served on the Western North Carolina Regional Council.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Ruth Deborah Peterson Frazier; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Whitney Frazier of Charlotte; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa F. and Shane Smith of Glen St. Mary, Fla., and Meagan F. and Paul Wright of Cramerton; four sisters, Barbara F. Atkinson of Penrose, Colo., Sandy F. Homier of Guthrie, Okla., his twin, Robert F. Krick of Guthrie, Okla., and Jennifer F. Williams of Helena, Mont.; four grandchildren, Alyssa, McKenna and Cianna Smith of Glen St.. Mary, Fla., and Madison Frazier of Charlotte; and over five hundred loving members of the church family at Union Road Church of God.
Administrative Bishop Jerry Chitwood and Executive Pastor Terry Mull will be officiating,

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the following missions and funds: The Summit Young Adult Leadership Training, The Memorial Garden Fund or The Church Building Fund, all care of Union Road Church of God, 2315 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.

Dear Ruth, Lisa, Craig, Meagan and family,
At this time of loss there is so little that can be said. Bob was a great friend in ministry, and we love you all so dearly. Know that our prayers and thoughts are with you in this difficult time. God is a refuge and strength, as you know. He will bring you through, and someday we'll all be together again.

This was a shock to hear. We remember the Youth Camps & special meetings he had in Canada. It was a joy to have him in our home & meet you at General Assembly.

Dear Preacher Frazier,
We wanted to say you will be missed so much, You were a special part of alot of people's lives and you will always be in remembrance. Those Angels in the sky looked down and said come on Mr.Frazier your coming on a long journey. Words are useless at this moment, families are in disbelief. Now your future is somewhere beyond the clouds that we cannot touch. What can one say or do to make he/she feel comfort? Not a word/Pray, all I can say is just how lucky you are to have met GOD before me. Jean,Russell and Brooke Grigg (God Bless the Family)

They're no words to describe the pain that I feel towards the loss of my wonderful Pastor. He meant so much to me and my family. I look forward to seeing him in heaven, being greeted with a big smile and a "Hey Cutie!" -- He always knew how to make me laugh.

Dear Ruth, Lisa, Craig, Meagan, spouses, and babies -- my heart is broken. Sister Ruth, you and Pastor loved on me and ministered to me at a time when I needed it most, and I loved you for it. It is my prayer that you are surrounded now by that same love, support, and continual ministry that you have modeled for these many years of service to others. Pastor leaves a dynamic void for all of us who were touched by his ministry. Fondly,

Dr. Robert Frazier was a great man with a great personality. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to help wherever and whenever he could. He shared his wisdom and knowledge freely in an effort to help his fellow man.

His presence will be missed; but we look forward to the day we will see him again in that perfect place with our Father.
