Steve Summitt Obituary

GASTONIA - Steve Nelson Summitt Sr., 56, passed away July 3, 2011, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 11, 1955 in Gaston County, son of Faye Sisk Summitt and the late Willard W. Summitt.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Summitt is survived by his son, Steve Summitt, Jr. and his mother Robin Hargett, both of Gastonia; brothers, Darrell Summitt and wife Sarah of Gastonia, Kenneth Summitt and wife Mary of Gastonia; sisters, Linda Staley and husband Earl of Gastonia, Mazle Rhyne and husband Roger of Kings Mountain; eight nieces and nephews.

He attended Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Steve received an honorable discharge from the US Navy where he proudly served on the USS Coral Sea. He was a hard worker in the construction in-dustry the last 30 years of his life. He will surely be missed.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel.

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Steve. We just saw him at the funeral services for our brother, Rodney Roseberry and we let him know how much we appreciated him being there for us.
