Thomas Eddings Obituary
Toby went home to be with his Lord in July 24, 2010. Born in Columbia, S.C., he was the son of Barbara Rodgers Eddings and the late Thomas Perry Eddings.
Thomas Benet "Toby" Eddings, 52, was a 1975 graduate of Camden High School and attended USC-Sumter. Currently, he was a copy editor at The Gaston Gazette in Gastonia and was awarded Journalist of the Year in 2009. He had also worked for newspapers in Cumming, Ga., Eden, N.C., Hartsville, S.C., The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and The Camden Chronicle in Camden, S.C. and WACA radio in Camden, where he was known as "Toby Toodles." Mr. Eddings was a member of First Baptist Church in Gastonia.
Surviving are his mother, Barbara Rodgers Eddings of Camden; daughter, Tiffany Eddings Cashatt and her husband, Jamie of Columbia; son, Troy E-dings of Myrtle Beach; sister, Begee Mays and her husband Kirk of Camden; nephew, Robbie Mays of Concord; niece, Morgan Mays of Camden.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Eddings' memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 500 Taylor St., Suite 101, Columbia, SC 29201, or to Samaritan's Purse, 801 Bamboo Road, Boone, NC 28607 or to First Baptist Church of Gastonia Building Fund, Gastonia, NC.
