CHARLES DUMPERT Obituary

March 13, 1935 - December 26, 2008
Charles E. (Charlie) Dumpert, died unexpectedly December 26, 2008. He was born March 13, 1935 to Lawrence and Thelma (Thornburg) Dumpert in Gas City, Indiana. He graduated in 1953 from Fairmount High School. Charlie served 22 years of honorable service and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. He received numerous commendations for his outstanding service on the IG Team. After his military career, he was employed by Ampex Corporation, obtained numerous management positions and completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration at the University of Phoenix in 1987. Charlie was the former owner of Burkhart Supply Company. He was an avid golfer and active member of the Eisenhower Golf Course while he served on the board of the EMGA. He was a member of the 32nd Degree Mason. Charlie was married in 1982 to his soul mate and love of his life, Karen S. (Hieger) Dumpert. Charlie is survived by his wife Karen of 26 years, two sons Scott (Nancy) Dumpert from Long Island, NY., Michael (Bonnie) Dumpert from Paola, KS., two step sons Jeffrey (Kellie) Study, Mark (Rhonda) Study, three step daughters Julie (Chris) Miller, Nicole (Anthony) Richardson, Michelle (David) Pyzola, all from Colorado Springs, CO., and 17 grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Ruth Staggs from Gas City, IN., Margret (Verlis) Collins from Gosten, OH., five brothers Lawrence Dumpert from Bluffton, IN., Paul Dumpert from Fort Meyer, FL., Bill (Mona) Dumpert from TN., John (Nancy) Dumpert from Gaston, IN., Dick (Dee) Dumpert from OH., and one uncle, John Thornburg from Pueblo, CO. Services will be held at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, America the Beautiful Chapel 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colo. Springs, CO 80910 on Tuesday, December 30 at 2:00 p.m. Please join us for a reception lunch immediately following the services at 633 Golden Hills Rd. Colorado Springs, Co 80919.

My memories of Charlie go way back. Not only that he was my my step father but as a person of trust and a friend. Family was always his first priority then golf. I will miss the long talks and stories on the golf course and in his home. His initials will always be on my golf ball. Your at peace. Semper Fi!

Karen, I and Laurie were very sorry to hear of Charlie's passing, You and your family will be in our prayers asking GOD to give you all his peace and confort in your time of need. I worked with Charlie at Empire AFS, He was a great friend and "Pal", love to play glof with him.

Charlie and I were stationed together at Empire AFS, MI back in the mid '60s. What a great guy. We had many lively horseshoe matches in the evenings. He will be missed. Another warrior has left us.

Charlie was my supervisor at Ampex. To this day, I have never had a boss that comes close to Charlie Dumpert. He was fair, strong, and stood behind his employees. Though I didn't know him well, I still gauge management by his standards. He was a good man.
