Jacquilyn Kay (Gittings) Moore passed away on July 18, 2024 after a brief illness. Jackie was born in Cook County Illinois. At the age of 9 months, she and her twin sister, Jeanne Althea, were adopted by Althea and Clarence Gittings. Jackie & Jeanne grew up on Wiswell Farm, a Centennial farm, in Cameron, Illinois, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1956.
Jackie attended Iowa State University where she graduated with a degree in home economics. She married Jerry Lee Moore on June 19, 1960. Jerry's air force career took them to Selfridge AFB, Michigan; Lackland AFB, Texas; Incirlik AFB, Turkey; Edwards AFB, California; Maxwell AFB, Alabama; Richards Gebaur AFB, Missouri; San Vito AFB, Italy; Rhein Mein AFB, Germany; and Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. In each location, Jackie set up the household making it home. She was involved in the Officer's Wives Club, supporting Jerry's career. Along the way, Jeffrey Alan, Jason Andrew, and Jonathan Lloyd were born. The family retired from the US Air Force in North Little Rock, Arkansas where Jackie worked as a para-professional at Cato Elementary School.
In 1997 when Jerry & Jackie fully retired, they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jackie quickly became a regular volunteer in the kindergarten classroom at Academy Edison (now Academy Endeavour) Elementary School until the Covid lockdowns of 2020 led her to retire. She was also very involved at Vista Grande Community Church where she acted out her concern for those less fortunate or marginalized through many volunteer and service opportunities.
Jackie was a thoughtful, kind, and accepting mother, grandmother, and friend who always took care of those in her orbit through food and friendship; her gluten-free brownies were legendary. She was an accomplished seamstress who taught her granddaughters how to sew. She was always concerned about the well-being of others and had a hug ready for anyone who needed one. Her greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Jerry; her sons Jeff (Rhonda), Jason (Terri), and Jon (Ginger); grandchildren Meghan (Chad) Davis, Tessa (Paul Vanasse), Tory, Carmen (Chad) Avink, Natalie, Ian, and Mia; her twin sister Jeanne Robeson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Althea Gittings.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9, 11:00am at Vista Grande Community Church, 5460 N Union Blvd, Colorado Springs. Memorial gifts in honor of Jackie may be given to Vista Grande Community Church.

Jackie was a dedicated volunteer in my kindergarten classroom for many years. She could work with children or accomplish a myriad of tasks that pile up on a weekly basis. More than that, she was a friend I looked forward to seeing every Tuesday and Thursday. We had such a good time at lunch talking about family and her travels around the world. Jackie, you were such a blessing to our kindergarten team! You will be missed but, heaven must be a brighter place with your beautiful smile. Cheryl Thorson

I will cherish the walks we took last spring (2023) when my son, Jim and I visited. I also have many fond memories of other times together. Love you and I will miss you.
