Beverly Rubeck Obituary

Beverly A. (Zakrzewski) Rubeck

Northampton, MA - It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Beverly Ann (Zakrzewski) Rubeck into Eternal Life. Beverly was born June 13, 1939, in Holyoke, to the late John and Florence (Bey) Zakrzewski. Beverly grew up in the city of Holyoke, graduating with honors from Holyoke High School in 1957. She married Glenn Rubeck in September 1961. They shared 58 loving years of marriage together before his passing in 2019.

Forever a competitive athlete, she was an avid sports enthusiast all throughout her life. In her youth, she was a formidable opponent as a lefty pitcher for Little League and was featured in a newspaper article as the first girl to be included in this all-boys sport in Holyoke. Although she enjoyed playing many sports, she earned respect in the local tennis circuit as a USTA-ranked player, competing in leagues with dearest friends. On the tennis courts Bev shone, wanting to win-but always wanting to have fun. Her teammates were always friends

first-and competitors second. She held her friends very close to her heart, sharing her sense of humor and love for fun with them. And don't forget her boisterous laugh! Her adventures with longtime friend Penny are legendary and cherished.

She is well-known for her decades of service at Agway Lawn and Garden where she was formally honored for her excellence in sales of appliances and power equipment. Beverly embraced her Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She held dear to her Polish heritage: the food, the Polka, Dobrze!

Beverly is loved by her family. She leaves behind her son, Glenn D. Rubeck, and her daughter, Joanne Brown and husband Christopher Brown. She leaves her brother, John Zak and his wife Kathy, sister Joan Colthart and husband Glenn, and sisters-in-law Lorraine and June. She leaves her grandchildren, Michael Rubeck, Lillian, Vanessa, Christopher, and Joseph Brown and great-grand daughters Sofia and Jalani. She leaves nieces Aleta, Laurie, Deanne, Louise, Gwen, and Kim. She leaves nephews, Tim, Daryl, Scott as well as cousins and beloved friends.

Calling hours will be Friday, December 13th from 4-7 PM at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME OF NORTHAMPTON. Funeral will be Saturday, December 14th, at 9 AM from the Drozdal Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 99 King St., Northampton at 10 AM. Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beverly's memory Linda Manor Extended Care Facility, c/o Patients Activity Fund, 349 Haydenville Rd., Leeds, MA 01053.

I remember seeing Bev at Agway, at baseball games and at Church and I missed her when I didn't see her. We had a few chats on the phone, especially on her Birthdays. She was a sweet lady who was always a pleasure to see. May God Bless her and may she rest in peace. JMS

I was Bev's mailman for many years. She was always so cheerful and friendly. I looked forward to our chats about the Red Sox. Olive St. won't be the same without her.
