Daniel Bouquillon Obituary

Daniel Greyson Bouquillon

Northampton, MA - Daniel Greyson Bouquillon died on May 20, 2023 at his home on Kensington Street in Northampton MA.

Dan was born at home in Charlemont, MA on July 30, 1987, and spent his childhood in Shelburne Falls and Holyoke MA. He attended NorthStar Self Directed Learning Center while dually enrolled at Holyoke Community College. He completed his associate's degree about the same time many of his friends were graduating high school. He graduated from Guilford College in 2009 with a BA in Political Science and Anthropology, and UMass-Dartmouth with a certificate in Sustainable Development and Leadership.

Dan enjoyed a career that uniquely sought to serve the environment through innovation in technologies, processes, and educational pathways. He loved to learn, and his creative competence was appreciated by several organizations including Pharmalucence, Center for Ecotechnology, Paragus IT, Callaway Golf, CAIA Associates, as well as private clients served by Lantern Cyber Security Consulting Services.

Dan's experience at NorthStar gave him insights into the need for accessible alternative education pathways for young people. This was most evident in his involvement in Lighthouse School in Holyoke, where Dan was a founding board member, as well as his continuing service on the NorthStar board.

For those who knew him well, he will always be remembered as someone who loved nature, a good laugh, and an opportunity for a new adventure. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed spending time with friends and family, golfing, real estate investing, volunteering, grilling, camping, DIY projects, listening to music, gardening and more…including skydiving.

Dan is survived by his 3-year old daughter Maybelline and her mother Sally Ekus (Florence MA), his mother Karen (Montgomery MA), his father Ed and stepmom Diana (Fairlee VT), sister Erin Bordeau and husband Bryan (Billerica MA), brother Elias Bouquillon (Leominster MA), grandparents Carolyn Armington (Jamestown RI) and Ed and Mary Bouquillon (Simsbury CT), uncles David Bouquillon (Nashville TN) and Keith Armington (Sparks MD), and stepsisters Jennifer Chabott (Northfield MA) and Kate Cavanaugh (Monson MA).

A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday June 8, 2023, at 11:00am at the Mary Lyon Church (17 Upper Street in Buckland MA). A green burial will follow at the Trow Cemetery across the street. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Shelburne Falls.

In lieu of flowers donations are requested to the newly formed Daniel Greyson Bouquillon Memorial Scholarship Fund in support of increasing student access to Lighthouse School and NorthStar. To the Bouquillon family,

Dan is the kind of person that will always be close to our hearts. It is rare to meet someone like Dan. He operated in ideas and ambition at all times and inspired myself and others to make an impact on the world that we otherwise would not have. I will never forget my lengthy philosophical conversations with Dan on the meaning of life, discussing the intricacies of real estate investment for hours, accompanying him to buy his first banjo, learning new songs together on the porch, and traveling down the Carolina coast together to visit the beachside towns of Duck and Beaufort. The last time I spoke with Dan, he beamed about the arrival of his daughter into the world and shared with me all his aspirations in business and environmental innovation. He valued the people around him above all else and never stopped looking toward the future. The world has lost a wonderful person, but Dan´s memory will never fade. His influence will carry on for generations to come.
