Frank Jenks Obituary

SUN CITY, Ariz. - Frank Jenks, 87, of Sun City, died Monday, July 8, 2013.

He was born July 28, 1925, in Amherst, Mass., and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Esther (Flint) Jenks; four children, Jim (and Lilly) Jenks of San Diego, Lori (and Les) Bethany of Glendale, Heidi Speed of Peoria, and Vivian (and John) Warren of Page; along with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother Richard Jenks and sister Norma Buffum, who live in Florida, sister Geneva Weidhass, who lives in Virginia, and nephew Robert Thrasher, who lives in Belchertown, Mass.

He attended Devry Institute in Chicago, after the military, got married and moved back to Massachusetts where he worked for A&P for several years, before moving to Arizona in 1957. He worked at several grocery stores in Arizona over the years in Phoenix, Page, Bagdad and the Grand Canyon before retiring to Sun City several years ago.

A memorial service will be Saturday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the South Peoria Baptist Church, 9000 West Olive Avenue, Peoria.
