Frank Szawlowski Obituary

FRANK SZAWLOWSKI JR.

Hatfield, MA - Our hearts are heavy as we announce the unexpected passing of Frank Szawlowski, Jr., of Hatfield, on Monday, May 5, 2025. Born on July 2nd,1977, Frank was a true son of Hatfield, a place he called home throughout his life.

From his earliest days growing up on the family's potato farm, Frank's heart was with the land. He attended Hatfield Public Schools and graduated from Smith Academy in 1995, but his real education often took place behind the wheel of a beloved John Deere tractor. Farming wasn't just a job for Frank; it was a passion that took root when he was just a young boy. Beyond the fields of Hatfield, Frank held a special fondness for the salty air and sandy shores of Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, where many birthdays were celebrated over the years.

As the youngest of five, Frank was cherished by his family. Though his sister Lisa's passing in 2008 left a void, Frank's life was brightened immeasurably by his son, Frank Szawlowski, III, who was the pride and joy of his life. He also found companionship in his home with his partner, Cheryl Tobacco, and their furry family of much-loved dogs and cats.

Frank's memory will be held dear by his beloved son, Frank Szawlowski, III of Hatfield; his partner, Cheryl Tobacco of Hatfield; his loving parents, Frank Szawlowski, Sr. and Nancy (Shea) Szawlowski of Hatfield; his sisters, Shelley Szawlowski and her husband Ron of Hatfield, Melanie Wickles and her husband Greg of Hatfield, and Diane Mullins and her husband Chris of Centreville, Virginia, Brother-in law, Dr. Steven Leon of Port Jefferson, NY and many nieces and a nephew.

A private service will be held to honor Frank's life on Monday, May 12, 2025, followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions in Frank's memory be made to the Szawlowski Farms Agricultural Foundation, PO Box 9, Hatfield, MA 01038, to support the enduring legacy of his passion.
