John C. Sector

NORTHAMPTON – John C. "Jim" Sector, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017. He passed away in his sleep at the age of 98 years old. He has a son John Sector, of Peoria, Arizona; a daughter Suellen Walker of Boulder, Colorado; and a devoted nephew Chuck Whitham of Florence. Jim also had an extensive loving Sector family with whom he was very close, including his last surviving brother, Gordon Sector of Florence.

Jim was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and was a resident from early childhood of Northampton. He graduated from St. Michael's High School and worked for Curtis Publishing until his enlistment in the Army in March 1943. Shortly before reporting, Jim married Dorothy Leary of Northampton. They embarked on the adventure of a lifetime as Jim went all over the United States for military training and Dorothy travelled with him. After his discharge from the service, Jim and Dorothy returned home to Florence, where he had the first house in Cloverdale built for them. He sold cars at Hampshire Lincoln Mercury until joining the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. Both of these occupations led to many life long friendships.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Sector, and his siblings George, Helen and Bill. His beloved wife Dorothy passed away in 2002 after 59 years of marriage.

A visitation will be held at the Ahearn Funeral Home Friday, April 21, from 3 to 7 p.m. and a funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 22, at 11:30 a.m. at Annunciation Church in Florence with a burial at St. Mary's Cemetery. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the Delaney House.
