A Legacy of Learning
We thank Julius, who provided the rich soil of knowledge in which we could grow.
Like these trees that are planted in his memory, he sent us to enrich the world´s future environment.
Julius gave us vision and direction to shape the structure of man´s
"design with the land". We feel privileged to have felt the force of his passion and were given the tools to carry on his legacy.

Dr. Fabos is one of my favorite people of all time. He was a friend, mentor, astonishingly Hungarian, and honest to the core. Because of him I visited Budapest twice and fashioned a pretty good career. His family was a pleasure to be around. Best to Edith, Anita, Bettina, and Adrian in your time of rememberance.

Will miss your smile and heartfelt laugh (and accent in pronouncing my name). To a fellow Michiganian.

It was an honor to know you both.
Our family enjoyed seeing you on your neighborhood walks.
Wonderful memoires.

I have fond memories of staying with Julius and Edith in the 1990s when I was lecturing at U Mass. The dinner was rollicking and I awoke the following morning to scones that Edith was baking. Julius was a mensch, a mentor and an incredibly generous and mentoring presence for many -- myself included. As we celebrate the Bicentennial of Olmsted's birth we can also celebrate the work that Julius did in the 1960s contributing to the foundations of the Olmsted renaissance. I hope that his former students and colleagues will do the same to make Julius' legacy visible for future generations of practitioners.

So sorry to hear about Dr. Fabos. What a fabulous life. I read Son Of A Kulak when it came out, and had the privilege of meeting Dr. And Mrs. Fabos at a fall alumni breakfast some years back. He was a remarkable addition to the history of UMass......
