Marion Pitchko Obituary

LEEDS – Marion C. Pitchko passed away at Linda Manor in Leeds, on June 17, 2018, surrounded by her family and the kind staff at the facility.

Marion was born on Oct. 5, 1925, in Chicopee to Anna (Sengera) and Anthony Niedzwiec. She grew up primarily in Hadley, where she graduated from Hopkins Academy with honors in 1943. She attended Northampton Commercial College in Northampton, and from there took a position working for the Coca-Cola Company.

Marion was married to Joseph J. Pitchko on May 11, 1946. She is survived by their three children, Kathleen (Conrad) Halberg of Shelburne Falls, Joseph (Patty) Pitchko, Jr. of Fernandina Beach, Florida, and Melanie (Tony) Williams of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Catherine Halberg of Shelburne Falls, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Marion enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, reading the newspaper and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her children and her granddaughter. She went out almost daily with her late sister, Mildred Banas, who was her next door neighbor in Hadley until her death several years ago.

Marion was a parishioner of the Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley and was a member of the Hadley Women's Auxiliary.

Services for Marion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Monroe Ave., Shelburne Falls. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
