Meaghan Curtis Obituary

Meaghan Kwiecinski Curtis

Northampton, MA - Meaghan Kwiecinski Curtis passed away Monday Sept.11, 2023 at 10:13 AM. She died at home surrounded by her entire family after a 21 month battle with brain cancer. She leaves her husband Andrew Curtis and her son Wyatt. Meaghan and Andy were soul mates, who supported each other's dreams and shared a beautiful marriage. Together, they raised Wyatt, working as a team. She also leaves her parents, James "JP" Kwiecinski and Cynthia Kwiecinski, her sister Kelly Kwiecinski Jeden and her sister in law Amanda Czerweic Jeden, her inlaws Carol and Greg Curtis, their daughters Caroline and Liz, their son Ian, son in laws Matt and Brian, niece Imogin and nephews Heinrich and Beau. Many extended relatives were present and supported her during her hospice period and at the moment of her death. She was also supported by many long time friends and family members during her illness.

Meaghan was a vibrant, intelligent, creative, and gregarious woman, friend, daughter, sister, wife and mother. She was a fierce advocate for the environment with a degree in Environmental Science from Westfield. She was a member of the Southampton Conservation Commision and held a certification in Outdoor Leadership from GCC. Meaghan had a passionate love of the outdoors and all things involving nature. She was an excellent gardener and raised organic fruits and vegetables as well as native flowers and plants. She passed that love of gardening onto her son who has been gardening with her since he was two.

Meaghan had an infectious laugh and an enchanting and warm personality that drew many people to her. She left a lasting and positive impression on everyone she met and her connections stretched far and wide across the nation and the globe. She held many jobs in her life: farm stand work, wait staff, bartender, make up artist for zombie films and Fright Fest, Springfield Water and Sewer, and APEX an environmental firm. Meaghan was fearless and always willing to challenge herself. She drove a race car in a "Lemons" race, made a parachute jump, hiked, traveled the nation and to Canada and Belize and worked her way through Alaska. She made lasting friendships wherever she went and had a positive impact on the world. Meaghan was a fierce advocate for the rights of all people; she believed in, and lived, a life of diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging. She was an ally to all people, valuing and honoring all cultures and peoples. She was not afraid to stand up against injustice and hatred but led by example with positivity, kindness and respect.

Meaghan touched the lives of everyone she met and her legacy is one of compassion, joy and a passionate stewardship of all things outdoors. Although her passing leaves an enormous hole in many people's lives, she wished not to be mourned but to be celebrated in Life. She asked two things of those who loved her: First, that they support her loving husband who fought along side her until the end, her incredible son and her family and Second that we all remember the good times we shared with her along the way. There will be an outdoor Celebration of Life on April 13, 2024 from 12-5PM at Conant Park in Southampton, MA and in lieu of flowers she wanted contributions to be made instead for her son's future; they can be sent to Wyatt Curtis 90 East Street Southampton, MA 01073

I am so late with this because I just found out. I was lucky enough to meet her years ago and I was the RN that took care of her in the ER when she and family got the terrible news and it´s been eating me up inside since. Unfortunately, I didn´t know she passed and I´m sporadically on social media.
Sending condolences and just want all to know that she made a colorful mark in this life. I admired her strength and hard work... her love for others and beautiful smile.
Please know I´ve thought of her often but didn´t want to intrude or bother her...
Sending love...

Dear Kelly, I read with great sadness about the loss of your sister. I cherished all the times you would come see me after school, and want you to know how I wish I could help heal your broken heart. I´ll remember you always with your friendly smile and wonderful positiveness. Your sister, Meaghan also had these wonderful attributes that she shared with you. Take care, my angel. Thinking of you.
