Paul W. Maynard

Ashfield, MA — Paul passed away peacefully on August 7, 2021, with his family by his side. He was born on November 20, 1946, in Northampton, MA. The son of Francis and Ester (Perrea) Maynard.

Paul lived in Northampton and Leeds before moving to Ashfield in 1985. He attended Northampton High School and was later drafted into the Army where he served his county and was honorably discharged.

When Paul was young, he worked for his father's business, Leeds Canvas Repair. He learned the trade and took on many canvas jobs himself through the years. He worked for the Northampton Fire Department before retiring after 30 years. There he was given the nickname "Fuzzy".

Paul married his wife, Sandy, on October 10, 1986 and has resided in the lovely town of Ashfield ever since. Paul and Sandy enjoyed spending time boating on the Connecticut River in Gill, riding motorcycles, camping at Peppermint Park in Plainfield and Country Aire Campground in Charlemont.

Paul loved watching the Patriots and Red Sox. Also playing cards with his wife with his dog, Ayla, by his side. Paul and Sandy took many trips to Port Orange, Florida to visit with friends and watch the Daytona 500.

Besides his wife, Sandy, he leaves his sons, Michael Maynard (Joanne) of Chicopee, Jonathan Maynard (Barbara) of Wilbraham, and Derek Maynard and his fiancé (Aleata) of Greenfield. He also leaves his stepson Jamie Frenier and stepdaughter Kimberly Rubeck. His granddaughter, Gabriela, step grandchildren, Becca, Tyler, Cody, and Seth. Step great grandchildren, Connor and Gage, and many nieces and nephews. He leaves his brother, Fran, of Eustis, Florida. His first wife, Celeste Maynard of Chicopee. His sister in laws, Beverly Dextraze (Ed), and Pam Sadowski (Tom). He was predeceased by his brother, Peter Maynard.

Paul's family wishes to thank the staff at Cooley Dickinson and Baystate Medical who were involved in his care. Special thanks to the surgical team, the palliative care team, and the nurses.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Williamsburg Funeral Home has been entrusted with his cremation. His family and friends will gather for a celebration of his life at a later date.
