Prof. Bhowmick was a Fulbright Visiting Professor in my department at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka in 2008 when I was a lecturer. He taught me many things about weed science and beyond. Last time, I met him in Gujrat, India and both of us were invited speakers at Indian Society of Weed Science Conference. We remember him for his grace and friendliness.

Dear Bhowmik Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Prasanta's passing. Mine is one of the many lives Prasanta touched with his grace and friendliness. As a fellow weed scientist and UMass employee, Prasanta was always one of my biggest supporters. He did so in his typical quiet manner. I loved his smile. He always made me feel like I was important, not only to the job, but to him personally. The Heavens are certainly richer now that Prasanta is there, but we here on Earth are a bit poorer. I will miss him greatly.

Dear Monica, we are saddened to hear about the loss of your wonderful father. May he rest in peace. Your father was a friend to Lyle and to all of his daughters. What fun it was to bump into him in the basement of Stockbridge and chat about UMass and our growing families. Your father had a kind and gentle soul and always made time to talk with me whenever we bumped into each other-mainly at Friendly's and Cushman Cafe. We are thinking of you and sharing comforting hugs. Respectfully and with love, the Craker family.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Prasanta and all of the Bhowmik´s for many years..I was closest with David and remember that one day I was eating alone at Mi Tiera a local restaurant, Prasanta and Bev insisted that I join them where I enjoyed a nice meal with great company. A very thoughtful and kind gesture.
