He had been dealing with kidney and heart problems for a while. Richard (aka Dick) was born in Northampton, Ma. on October 27, 1950, Richard (aka Dick) was born in Northampton, Ma. Dick has been living in Amherst at our family home (which he and brother Les helped build) for many years. Previously, he had been living at his house atLake Wyola, in Shutesbury. He always said he was so lucky to have such great neighbors at both places. He had many jobs during his life after serving in the Marines, from being a bank teller in town, to traveling the country and opening new Taylor Rental stores, to his last job working at the UMass Amherst Physical Plant for many years before retiring. Dick was the son of Weymouth "Bud" Heath and Joy Heath. Dick was predeceased by his sister Carol (Heath) O'Brien, and by both brothers, Les Heath and John Heath. He leaves behind his sister Donna Heath Smith of Southwick, Ma., nephews Nick and Jeremy Smith, Les Heath Jr., and other nephews, nieces and cousins.

Dick attended and graduated from the Amherst school system, did some time at college, then at the age of 20, he went into the US Marine Corps for two years. He was also a member of the Amherst VFW which he worked for many years, and "on occasion" visited on his days off and get caught up on all the scoop! He liked going there to just hang out and see all the "regulars" lt was like his home away from home. In his earlier days, he enjoyed his golfing outings andfamily get togethers.

There will be calling hours for Dick on Thursday, April 10th' from 4-6 pm, at the Douglass Funeral Home in Amherst, MA. Cemetery arrangements are not finalized at this time.

Dick was always considered an extended family member. He spent many summer vacations with us at Goose Rocks Beach Maine and our kids looked forward to him taking them to Old Orchard Beach and treating them to French fries, cotton candy and rides at Playland. There were also many nights on our porch with Ted and I enjoying a beer and
Discussing the ills of the day. He was a good caring man and will be greatly missed.
