Scott Ring Obituary

Scott Patrick Ring

Hadley, MA — Scott Patrick Ring, 45, went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2021, after a valiant battle with COVID 19. He was surrounded by his loving family at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Scott was born in West Memphis, Arkansas on July 15, 1975 to Terry and Peggy (LaRosa) Ring. Scott leaves behind his devoted wife of 26 years, Carrie (Stewart) Ring, whom he met in chemistry class and they quickly became high school sweethearts, his daughters Savannah Ring and fiancée, Jesse Gauvain of Stoneham, Massachusetts, Peyton Omer and her husband Andrew of West Warwick, Rhode Island, Macy Ring and Melanie Ring of Hadley, Massachusetts. Scott also leaves behind his parents, Terry and Peggy Ring of Hardy, Arkansas, his brother Tony Ring and his wife Lori of Heber Springs, Arkansas, his sister Laura Givens and her husband Jeff of Theodore, Alabama, and his brother Randy Ring and his wife Cheryl of West Memphis, Arkansas, and countless beloved friends, coworkers, softball players and baseball players.

Scott graduated from West Memphis High School in 1993 and attended Arkansas State University for a brief time. At the time of his passing, he was proudly attending SNHU to pursue a degree in computer science. Scott worked for Wonder Bread Hostess Cake in Memphis, Tennessee, starting as a routeman and working his way up to branch manager in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. It was there, in Pine Bluff, that Scott began a 20-year career with Walmart, a place that helped him achieve his dreams and strike out on a work adventure. Scott admired that Walmart would give him endless possibilities to move up in the company, despite his lack of a college education. The company recognized in Scott his hard work, keen sense of people skills, and retail knowledge. Scott resided in Rison, Arkansas, and Greenville, Mississippi, two towns he loved dearly when he started with Walmart. The family lived there for 10 years, with many friends and great experiences. Scott then felt it was time to relocate because he was not fond of heat, and moved to his beloved Hadley, Massachusetts, the place he considered "home" 12 years ago, to take a position as the Store Manager at Walmart in Northampton. Scott then went on to manage and build out the Westfield Supercenter and then became the logistic e-commerce lead for New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Scott loved Walmart because he loved the people that worked there. He knew the value of people and all the things they were going through. He considered it an honor to walk along side of them during troubling times and joyous ones.

Scott was the ultimate "girl dad." He supported his four daughters in every way, and taught them to work smart, fix cars, value themselves, and be decent human beings. They never had a doubt that their dad loved them and would do anything for them. Scott was a strong supporter of young softball players in the area. He coached many girls throughout the years, including all four of his daughters, his favorite players. The softball community felt his presence constantly, as he would be part of the centerfield crew cheering on every girl on every team. He supported all athletes in the area and was always happy for their big moments. Scott delighted in showing the people of Hadley and the surrounding area the likes of Memphis style BBQ, crawfish boils, catfish, and many other southern traditions. Scott had a knack for making people feel at home and comfortable in his presence. He made everyone feel important. Scott had a smile that was infectious and would light up the room; it made people feel like they had known him forever.

Scott knew the Lord and was saved and baptized at 23 years old at Cornerstone Baptist Church in West Memphis, Arkansas. It is because of that deep abiding relationship with God that Scott's kindness had always shown through. Scott's family would like to extend thanks and appreciation for all of kind and compassionate care he received at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. They truly cared and loved Scott and the family throughout Scott's five-and-a-half-week battle. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you donate to your local softball teams, or to the Scott Ring Memorial Booster Scholarship Fund, payable to Hopkins Academy Booster Club, c/o 21 Chmura Road, Hadley, MA 01035. In the memo field please reference "scholarship fund."

Scott's Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 12th at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church of Amherst, 434 N. Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA. You will be able to live stream the Celebration by visiting https://youtu.be/Roslf1iX_W4 if you are unable to attend. I had the pleasure of working along side Scott at the Walmart in Greenville, Ms. There are no words that can express my deep sadness of Scott’s passing. Carrie and girls I know without a shadow of a doubt that Scott loved y’all deeply and will be watching over all of you from his home in Heaven. Scott was the most lively, funny and energetic manager I had the pleasure of working with. Scott was a true people person and never met a stranger. Walmart lost a valued employee with Scott’s passing and we who knew him lost a true friend. Fly high Scott Ring

Scott was an awesome store manager at our store. We would always talk about the Hogs, as I was a long time fan. He always had my back at my job and he was the nicest human ever. Will miss him and that laugh. He loved all his girls and his wife who is just as nice as he was. So sorry to all the Ring family.

The few times I got to meet Scott, he had a magnetic personality. He always made me feel part of the family. Scott's smile was contagious, and you could not help but see, as well as feel the love he had for Carrie and all the girl's. I will forever remember you Scott and miss you each day. Until we are all reunited RIP my dear brother in law. Cheryl Ring.

Ring family. My condolences on Scott's passing. I met him when he became the store manager in Northampton as his Coca Cola representative. I always enjoyed our time together and always left laughing. I got to see him occasionally at a Frontier event supporting Macy. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
