Delores Halvorson

July 11, 1929 - Jan. 16, 2006

Delores Halvorson of Corvallis died Monday at her home. She was 76.

She was born in Rugby, N.D., to Gilbert and Margaret Berdahl.

She married Don Halvorson on April 24, 1953, in Rugby. They later divorced.

In her early years, she worked in banking and bookkeeping while raising six children. She also worked for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

She taught herself to play the piano, and she enjoyed working in her yard and garden, canning and cooking for people. She loved helping her grandchildren, spending time with her family and taking trips to Spirit Mountain Casino.

She is survived by her children, Dale Halvorson of Vancouver, Wash., Gary Halvorson of Albany, Randy A. Halvorson of Albany, Susan D. Moothart of Brownsville, Shelly K. Moothart of Corvallis and Barbie Gee of Corvallis; siblings Wanda Brandt of Willow City, N.D., Gilbert Berdahl of Albany, Albert Berdahl of Tangent, Mary Jean Herman of Minot, N.D., Sharon Johnson of Corvallis, Ardith Berdahl of Corvallis, Robert Berdahl of St. Paul, Minn., and Amy Berdahl of Corvallis; grandchildren Tracy Ohlhauser, Jennifer Moothart, Ben Moothart, Tawny Dotson, Drew Halvorson and Crystal Norlin; great-grandchildren Marcus Ohlhauser, Owen Moothart, Ashlyn Ohlhauser and Hayden Dotson; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and grandson Travis Moothart.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at McHenry Funeral Home. Burial will be at Brownsville Pioneer Cemetery.
