Born in Oneida, Tennessee, to Merchison and Rheba Delk, Ed was in the U.S. Army 370th E.A.S.R., at Fort Davis Canal Zone, Panama. He was a member of the Eagles, V.F.W., American Legion and Local 701.
He was a crane operator for Neville Crane, Coast Crane and then Forslund Crane until he retired.
His passion was playing country music with his wife Grace and friends. After his band, Party Time, retired, you could find him every Wednesday evening at the Morningstar Grange jam session for an evening of playing bass, dancing with all the lovely ladies, and visiting with friends.
Ed loved spending time with his family and enjoyed all the family get-togethers and the kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren parties.
Ed passed away at the Oregon Veteran's Home in Lebanon.
Ed was preceded in death by his father and mother; first wife, Freda; and brother, Jim Ellis.
He is survived by his wife, Grace of Corvallis; sons, Tom Delk of Prineville; Tim Delk of Albany; daughters, Kathy Apple of Vancouver, Washington, Kay Hamlet of Philomath, Barbara Barker of Tigard; sisters, Willene Hultberg of Corvallis; Jeannie Needham of Pleasant Hill; brothers, Don Ellis of Philomath; and Ron Ellis of Cottage Grove; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 29, at Locke Cemetery, 5610 Locke Cemetery Road, Corvallis. Potluck and Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. at the Morningstar Grange, 38794 Morningstar Road NE, Albany. Please join us for food, music and memories.
