Isamu Furuichi Obituary

Aug. 11, 1947 - May 26, 2014

Isamu "Sam" Furuichi, 66, of Corvallis died May 26.

Please join us to honor and celebrate Isamu's life from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, which would have been his 67th birthday. Ted and Veronica Cox have generously offered their restaurant, the Old World Deli, 341 S.W. Second St. in Corvallis, for this special occasion. Anyone who knew Isamu will want to be with us to share memories and listen to his CD of Japanese enka ("heart crying") songs from the 1940s.

Let's cry, laugh, eat, drink, look at Isamu's beautiful photos, watch videos of our RV travels, and simply be together with his big heart and compassionate soul. Let's lift a glass and send Sam on his final solo flight. Drinks can be purchased at Old World Deli. The restaurant will provide light deli fare. Bring a potluck dish to share if you are able.

We would like to make a memorial bench plaque for Isamu to be placed at First Street and Monroe Avenue, near Sada Sushi and Izakaya, at Riverfront Commemorative Park. Sam's Plaque Fund has been set up at US Bank. Donation checks can be made out to Billie Furuichi with "Sam's Plaque Fund" in the memo line.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
