June 6, 1943 - Oct. 16, 2006
Joy Darlene McAnally, legal secretary, realtor, wife, mother, grandmother and living saint to family, friends and those in need, passed away Monday in a car accident on Highway 101 six miles north of Reedsport.
Born in Missoula, Mont., to Corwin and Elsie Fulker, Joy was the oldest of three children.
She married Jeffrey McAnally in Bozeman, Mont., on May 12, 1963, and began her travels throughout the world as the wife of a Marine Corps pilot. Her son, Michael, was born in 1967 and her daughter, Shannon, in 1970. Joy quickly became the orchestrator of the household while her husband was frequently deployed with the Marine Corps, providing support for her own children and the wives of other deployed pilots as well. Thus the beginning of her gracious and sometimes overwhelming generosity to others, resulting in the compilation of her wealth in friends.
After her husband's retirement from the Marine Corps, Joy and Jeff moved to Corvallis in 1991, and Joy began enhancing the lives of those she met and came to know as friends.
Her love for her husband and two children was enriched by the birth of her three grandchildren. Joy made every effort to see her grandchildren, even though they lived in the Eastern United States. Joy would arrange for family reunions, holiday gatherings, and provide emotional support for all family members, exemplifying one of her greatest personal qualities.
Joy is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; son Michael and wife Mary; daughter Shannon and husband Ricky McGee; sister Shirley and husband Gary Tonn; brother Gary Fulker and wife Virginia; father Corwin Fulker and mother-in-law Trudy McAnally. Her granddaughters are Brittany McAnally and Cassidy and Autumn McGee. She also has four nieces and four nephews. Joy is preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Fulker.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Zion Lutheran Church in Corvallis. Those who knew Joy and her family are encouraged to attend. Gifts or donations please make out to your favorite charity in Joy's name.
