Leonard Atkinson Obituary

1930 - 2016

Leonard Atkinson, 85, went home with the Lord on Jan. 7, 2016.

He was born in 1930 to Milton and Della Atkinson in New Mexico. After serving 15 months in Korea he went to meat cutting school. He married his wife, Myrna Crossan, in 1955; they lived in Toledo for a year and then in Waldport for 12 years before moving to Corvallis where they reared four children and have lived ever since. He retired in 1995 after 43 years in meat cutting and spent it traveling the country with his wife.

Leonard was actively involved in his church, loved camping, playing games, woodworking, and fishing. Leonard was one who always helped others and was an inspiration to many.

Leonard was preceded in his death by his parents, Milton and Della Atkinson; brothers Eugene and James; and son Steven.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna Atkinson of Corvallis; brothers Steve Atkinson of Portland, Joe Atkinson of Idaho, and Allen Johannsen of Tennessee; sisters Irene Hunter of Portland and Zade Crockett of Eugene; daughters Joyce Atkinson of Texas, Nancy Minnick of Albany and Sherri Atkinson of Portland; son Tim Atkinson of Corvallis; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Kings Circle Assembly of God. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made through Kings Circle Assembly of God to missions or boys ministries.
