Robert Hogensen Obituary

Robert "Bob" Eames Hogensen

November 8, 1947 - August 26, 2025

Robert "Bob" Eames Hogensen, 77, passed away peacefully in Dublin, Ohio, on August 26, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

Born on November 8, 1947, Bob grew up in Corvallis, Oregon, where he would live most of his life. An Eagle Scout in his youth, he developed an early love for the outdoors and the Pacific Northwest-a love that never faded. He enjoyed countless trips to the Oregon Coast in Newport, adventures in Central Oregon around Bend, and summers rafting the Deschutes River with close friends. He was also an avid camper and outdoorsman, happiest when surrounded by the beauty of his home state.

Bob was a lifelong supporter of Oregon State University athletics, holding season tickets to many sports for decades and proudly cheering on the Beavers through every season.

In 1969, Bob was drafted into the United States Army, completing basic training at Fort Lewis before moving on to Fort Benning with the Signal Corps. From 1970 to 1971, he proudly served his country while stationed at Tan Son Nhut Airbase in Saigon, Vietnam. Though his service was a source of quiet pride, Bob was never one to boast, carrying himself with humility and gratitude throughout his life.

After returning home to Corvallis, Bob began what would become a remarkable 39-year career with Green and White Rock Products, ultimately retiring as general manager. In 1976, he married the love of his life, Rita, and together they built a beautiful family. They raised two children, Bobby (Nicole) Hogensen and Heather (Steven) Denio. Bob cherished his role as a grandfather to R.J., Jackson, and Sebastian, who were the light of his later years.

Upon retirement, Bob and Rita moved to Florida, where they enjoyed palm trees, beaches, and time with their grandsons R.J. and Jackson. Eventually, they followed Bobby and Nicole to Ohio, where Bob continued to show strength and resilience even as his illness progressed.

In his final year, while in assisted living, Bob never lost his gentle spirit or his smile. He found joy in the simple things-especially a cold can of root beer and a bag of Jelly Bellies-and in the love of his family, who were always by his side.

Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. His quiet strength, sense of humor, and deep love for family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita; his children, Bobby (Nicole) Hogensen and Heather (Steven) Denio; his beloved grandchildren, R.J., Jackson, and Sebastian; his brother, Mark (Kimberly) Hogensen of San Antonio, Texas, and Mark's children, Hannah and Henry; and his sister, Ann (Mike) Fleetwood of Zionsville, Indiana.

Bobby, as I knew him, was the big brother of one of my best childhood friends- Ann Hogensen. Their home was always a fun place to go. He was always a nice big brother and had that same open and welcoming and friendly smile like his father before him. He was always a nice guy except the time he gave me a marble and told me it was a giant jellybean. Sending love and condolences to his family. Alice Henderson Rampton

I met Bob and Rita through their love of dogs. Both Rita and Bob were lovely people who were fun to be with. I was very sorry when they moved to be closer to family, but I know it was the best decision for them both. It will be a different world for Rita, but she has so many wonderful memories to fall back on and family for support. He was a very good man.

Bob was a man with one of the most positive attitudes I've ever known. He was always full of fun and ready to enjoy another Beaver victory. Rest in peace, friend, rest in peace.

Rita, we were so sorry to read of Bob´s passing. We were not aware of his diagnoses. Lu was diagnosed with Parkinson´s so we know how challenging it can be. Please look us up if you visit Corvallis. Take care.
