Sally Morgan Obituary

Sally J. Morgan

March 11, 1957 - November 4, 2024

Sally Jane Morgan, beloved daughter, niece, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, from complications following a stroke. Born on March 11, 1957, in Lebanon, OR, Sally spent nearly her entire life in the house in which she grew up, deeply rooted in the community she loved so much.

Sally was a dedicated volunteer and an active member of the Lebanon community for many years. She spent over a decade volunteering at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital and served as a board member and President of the Lebanon Community Hospital Auxiliary. Her commitment to service extended to her volunteer work with the SafeHaven Humane Society. Sally was especially passionate about animal welfare and was instrumental in the creation of the Laura Gillott Lebanon Dog Park, where she co-chaired efforts to establish the park as a community gathering place. She also co-chaired the Star-Spangled Celebration at Cheadle Lake.

Sally's dedication to education and community service extended to her professional life as well. A graduate of Lebanon High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in education from Western Oregon University and a master's degree in Geriatric Counseling from Oregon State University. While much of her later life was devoted to volunteer work, she also had a varied career, owning Copy Center Plus in Monmouth and serving as the Social Service Director at several care facilities. For several years, Sally was the Parish Life Administrator and Treasurer for the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon, where she made many lasting connections.

A passionate supporter of women's education and empowerment, Sally was a cherished member of P.E.O. for more than 45 years. She served as chapter president and worked tirelessly on the P.E.O. Women's Scholarship Program. Her P.E.O. sisters were a constant source of support. She was incredibly proud of the work they did to help women achieve their goals.

Sally was part of a special online group known as "The Bus Club," a group of friends who brought joy and camaraderie into her life. Above all, Sally was a kind, caring, and generous woman who formed deep connections with those around her. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, laughter, and loving heart.

Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Jane Morgan. She is survived by her much-loved aunt, Beverly Carlson; her three brothers: John, Joel, and Craig; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Chloe, who was her constant companion.

A viewing will be held at Huston-Jost Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 13, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Her funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 14, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 3111 S Main Road in Lebanon, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, Sally requested donations be made to the OSC P.E.O. Sisters Charitable Trust (21030 Desiree Place, Lebanon, OR 97355,) or to SafeHaven Humane Society (32220 Old Hwy 34, Tangent, OR 97389,) two causes close to her heart.

As Sally once said, "Thank you to all for the wonderful life I had. It has been a heck of a ride. I couldn't have done it without you. Much love, Sally."

I became acquired with Sally when she began volunteering at the front desk for Lebanon Hospital.

Sally was full of life and chatter. She was often involved in planning something, it seemed she knew everyone that came to the hospital (of course she visited with them), and always was the one to ask if you wondered about a happening in town.
I remember when Sally was invited to take a ride on the Santiam Express to review.

She was lovely, boisterous, and friendly. She will definitely be missed.
My sincere condolences.

When I was in college, I worked for Sally (and her mother Jane) at Copy Center Plus in Monmouth. I have such fond memories of that time! Sally became a mentor and good friend to me. I used to house sit and dog sit when the ladies were away on their many travels. We lost touch over the years, but I still remember her warmly. My condolences to her family and friends.

Many fond memories of Sally when we were in Rainbow together. Sweet, kind, funny, fair minded, caring, a leader, wonderful sense of humor and all of the other words that were used to describe her in her obituary. "Silly-Sally-Tally-Rally, Speedy Doria, Elmer Jane Carlson, Morgan Morgan"! (You had to be there!) Love to the family. Love you Sally!

I'm so sad to hear of Sally's passing. She has been a good friend since high school. We'd get together occasionally and reminisce about the old days, cruising around town in the old Lincoln, hanging out with friends and all of the Rainbow and DeMolay activities we participated in. I will always cherish Sally's friendship and the great times we has. Rest in peace my sweet friend
