Gerald Roehl Obituary

Janesville, WI - Gerald "Jerry" Alan Roehl, age 90, passed away at Oak Park Place Janesville on May 20, 2025. He was born in Center Township on July 21, 1934, son of Glenn and Lillian (Kane) Roehl. In 1952 he graduated from Orfordville High School, where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball.

He married Doris Anne Egeberg, his high school sweetheart, on Feb 5th 1955.

He lived in Janesville most of his life. He was employed by GM in Janesville for over 44 years of which 5 years was in supervision. He retired in 1996. He served as an usher at various events at UW Madison for 15 years.

He was very involved at First Lutheran Church. His activities included Sunday School, Bethel Series, Wilson Breakfast Club, ushering, B-Gs, 4-H Fair Food Stand, Youth Board, Church Council, and Second Harvest. He helped coach Little League baseball and served as a poll worker for twelve years.

He was an avid sports fan, especially of Craig High School, the Chicago Cubs, Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers.

He enjoyed travelling overseas and in all fifty states, often camping. He also loved yard work, hiking, biking, running, word puzzles and playing cards online.

He is survived by Doris, his loving wife of 70 years; two children, Robin (Ruth) Roehl, and Kerri (David) Shank. Surviving grandchildren are: Greg (Laura) Roehl, Brittany Roehl (Brian Kuehn), Heather (Michael) Graves, Steven (Jenny) Roehl, Lindsay (Colin) Kirchner, Jessica (Jordan) Phelps and Alivia Richter. Surviving great grandchildren are: Annabelle, Theodore, Lucy and Fiona Roehl, Henry and Vivian Kuehn, Hudson and Sutton Graves, Olive, Violet and Axel Roehl, James and Abigail Phelps. Also surviving are brother, Kenton (Diane) Roehl and sister, Glenda Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Elwood and Dick Roehl, sister, Patti Keesey and daughter, Suzy Roehl.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at First Lutheran Church in Janesville, with a visitation for one hour before the service. Memorial contributions are preferred to the First Lutheran Church Foundation or Agrace Hospice Care. Schneider Funeral Directors is assisting the family.
