Kay Frey Obituary

Janesville, WI - Kay Ann Frey, 88, commonly referred to as "Nana" by her family, passed away peacefully at her home in Janesville, on September 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Kay was born in Highland, Illinois. She was the daughter of Fredrick and Mildred Luner. Kay graduated with honors from Highland High School and was also a Gradwohl School of Laboratory and X-Ray Technology graduate. She married the love of her life, Maury Frey, after meeting at the age of 15. Following their marriage, Kay and Maury lived in St. Louis, MO and Farmington, MI before making their final move to Janesville, WI, where they ultimately raised their family. They have been happily married for 67 years.

Kay is survived by her husband, Maury; and their five children: Lisa (Dennis) Ryan, Linda (Jim) Splan, Michael (Lisa) Frey, of Janesville, WI, Sally (Steve) Roberts of Cedarburg, WI, and Sara (Ron) Beam of Waukesha, WI. She was also loved so very much by her 17 grandchildren: Kellen Ryan, Steven (Alyssa) Splan, Matthew (Michelle) Splan, Tyler and Emily Splan, Colin (Clare) Frey, Grace and Sophie Frey, Abigail, Aidan, Allie, Ava and Amelia Roberts, Alicia (fiancé Ciaran), Megan, Rebecca, and Elizabeth Beam. She also has 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Mildred Luner; sister, Kathleen Roth; and grandson, Alexander Roberts.

Above and beyond that, she volunteered and dedicated her time to several organizations including: The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary (Coats for Kids and Geranium Sale), PTO President at both Monroe Elementary and Marshall Junior High, Craig High School Athletic Booster Club Board member, and Janesville Junior Women's Club member.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Salvation Army's Women's Auxiliary of Southern Wisconsin.

The family would also like to thank the Beloit Hospice team and her special caregiver, Jane Graves, who all took such good care of our Nana. She will truly be missed.
