Neal Janke Obituary

Neal Janke Janesville, WI - Neal Janke, age 80, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at Huntington Place in Janesville, surrounded by his loving family. Neal was born on June 5, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Helmuth and Arline Janke. Neal graduated from Nathan Hale High School and went on to attend UW Milwaukee, where he met his soulmate, Carol Scheer. Neal and Carol married on October 2, 1965. Neal then entered the army, and he and Carol lived in both Panama and California before returning to Milwaukee, where Neal completed his schooling and became an insurance underwriter for many years. Neal and Carol had two children, Aaron and Elesa, before they built a home in Mukwonago, where they lived for 25 years. In 2003, they retired in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Neal loved watching sports, and he and Carol enjoyed hiking and watching sunsets, especially at the family cottage in northern Wisconsin. Neal also enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching The Weather Channel. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and his kind nature and sense of humor lifted the spirits of everyone around him. Neal is survived by his son, Aaron (Lisa); his daughter, Elesa Swirgsdin (Karl); his three granddaughters, Savannah, Madison, and Mackenzie; his sister-in-law, Catherine; and his niece, Margo, and nephew, Nicholas. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, and brother, Paul. The family requests donations be made to the Dementia Society of America.
