JANESVILLE, WI- Phyllis Hendrickson Brechtel, formerly of Portville, went to her Heavenly home on February 8, 2024, at the Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care in Fitchburg, WI., after a lengthy illness.

Phyllis was born July 5, 1945 in Olean, the daughter of the late Donald and Phyllis Reddy Hendrickson. On February 19, 1965, she married Byron Arnes, with whom she had three children. She later married Howard Brechtel in June 2004, who predeceased her on January 25, 2010. Phyllis graduated from Portville Central School. After moving to Milton, WI., she owned and operated The Squeeze Inn Cafe for a few years. Phyllis was a person of many hats while raising her family in Milton. She was a Den Mother, a Brownie Leader and taught catechism at St. Mary Catholic Church in Milton. She also worked as an office manager at the Janesville Products Company for many years. Later, Phyllis worked as an office clerk for and retired from the Schleisner Law office. She loved listening to music and dancing. Through the years, Phyllis attended her children's sporting events and later her grandchildren's. She felt any time spent with family was special, whether sporting events, holidays, or just get-togethers. Phyllis is survived by her children: Vicki (Thomas) Schleisner of Janesville, WI., Jodi Arnes of Honolulu, HI., and Craig Arnes of Bozeman, MT.; seven grandchildren, Austin, Candace and Travis Schleisner, and Sabastian and Chloe Arnes, Rose and Sage Kent; siblings, Barbara (William Chamberlin) Starr of Ischua, DC (Patricia) Hendrickson of Fort Pierce, FL., and Mark Hendrickson of Fort Lauderdale, FL.; a sister-in-law, Debra Hendrickson of Olean; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard; two brothers, Daniel Hendrickson and William Hendrickson; and a sister, Sharon Reed.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main St. Portville. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
