Richard V. Cleasby

1948 - 2025

Janesville, WI - Richard V. Cleasby, 77, of Janesville passed away peacefully at his home on September 15, 2025 surrounded by family. Richard was born on January 14, 1948 to Veral and Betty (Larson) Cleasby. He married Sandra Hermanson on May 24, 1969 at 1st Lutheran Church in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Born with a mechanical mind and a creative spirit, Richard spent 42 1/2 years working at General Motors. Outside the factory walls, his true artistry came alive in the garage-where hot rods roared to life under his care. Each build was more than metal and horsepower; it was a reflection of his ingenuity and love for the road. Richard's hobbies were also working on Lionel Train sets and bowling. He loved watching football and was an avid Lottery player.

Richard was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved work and life and woke each morning whistling and singing.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons, Jason Cleasby and Jeremy Cleasby; his grandchildren: Gage Cleasby, Reece Cleasby, Addison Cleasby, as well as his sisters: Tammy Cleasby, Mimi (Steve) Brock and Cindy (Chris) Rodgers. As well as additional family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Stacy Cleasby; his brother, Mike Cleasby and his beloved dog, Coco.

A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 12 - 4 PM, at the VFW, 1015 Center Ave., Janesville, Wisconsin.
