Robert Otto "Boomer" Behl

1937 - 2025

Janesville, WI - Robert O. "Boomer" Behl, age 88, passed away at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. He was born on June 24, 1937, in Prescott, WI, the son of Otto and Violet (Kuschel) Behl. He moved to Janesville as a child and was in the first graduating class of the new Janesville High School (now Craig High School) in 1956. Boomer served his country in the U.S. Army from July 1956 until his honorable discharge in July 1959, serving for some time in Germany. On April 30, 1960, he married Judy E. Jacobs in Janesville.

Boomer retired from GM after over 40 years of employment. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing and his trips to the casino, especially Ho-Chunk on his birthday. Earlier in life he was a pole-vaulter in high school, making it to State, then later on he coached Janesville Youth Baseball, before, during, and even after his son played. After he became a grandpa to two granddaughters, he could be found at their Irish Dance Competitions or Show Choir Competitions. He also loved rooting on all Wisconsin Sports teams, along with following all the sports from Parker High School.

Boomer is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Michelle Eames and Michael (Maribeth Witzel-Behl) Behl; granddaughters, Keeley Eames and Isabel Behl; and sister, Valerie Buehl. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son-in-law, Mark Eames.

Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, August 23, 2025, with visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service, and the family requests that you please attend dressed in your favorite sports team gear. Entombment will be private at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Parker High School Booster Club would be appreciated by the family.
