Virginia was a member of the Janesville Catholic Women's Club (Past President), St. Patrick Church, Spirit Club Board member and Chairwoman; volunteered at the Janesville Senior Center, Cedar Crest Services, Vikings, and ROSETS (Retired old secretaries eating and talking). She also organized and was a member of the Class of 49ers luncheon, Irish Cousins group, DNC card group and Fireside Five.

She was proud of having friends from the Girls Scouts who remained together for over 50 years, her Irish Catholic heritage, Irish family luncheons, entertaining and visiting all the foreign and American students and teachers that spent time with the Hirsch family and the many friends from Parker High School.
