ORVILLE JONES Obituary

ORVILLE LEE JONES Lee was born in Laclede County, MO on July 2, 1940. He went to be with his Lord and savior September 12, 2025, in Garden City, KS. Lee lived in LaClede County on a farm during his youth. There he attended Stoutland School. He met and married Hazel Phelps while they were both working at H.D. Lee Shoe Factory. They then moved to Garden City, KS where they had two children Rita Jones and Ronnie Jones. Lee owned and operated Lee's Texaco Station for almost 40 years. He loved cars, music, and the love of his family. His life was a happy and full one. He loved his family, his church and his Lord and Savior. Lee is survived by his wife, Hazel Jones; daughter Rita Ann Jones Shepherd and husband Bill of Garden City, KS; son Ronnie Lee Jones and wife Judy of Owasso, OK; Grandchildren Chelsea Chavez, Scott Jones, Sarah Shepherd and Audrey Shepherd; Great-Grandchildren, Izzy, Addy, Elly, Eli and Audie; Brothers and Sisters; Martha Becker of Richland, MO, Jerry Jones and Judy of Lebanon, MO, Lloyd Jones and Janice of Richland, MO, Ruth Vangerderen and Doyle of Reed Springs, MO, Stanly Jones and Glenda of Hartville, MO, Bonnie Jones of Ozark, MO, Rhonda Jones of Lebanon MO, Dennis Jones and Lillian of Lebanon, MO, Ellen Jones of Cassville, MO, Tommy Jones and Janetta of Copan, OK and many nieces and nephews. Lee did not fear death and knew his heavenly father and loved ones were waiting for him. He was preceded in death by his Mommy, Daddy, Paul, John, Mary and many more. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, KS. Lee's funeral service is Thursday September 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City, Kansas with Rev. John Harms and Rev. Stanley Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. The family suggests memoriasl be given to Finney County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
