ROBERT BAIER
Robert "Bob" Baier, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at The Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. He was born May 24, 1933, in Holcomb, Kansas, the son of Antone & Eleanor (Prevo) Baier.
Bob attended schools in Racine, Wisconsin, Holcomb, Kansas and Deerfield, Kansas. He then served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, Bob returned to the Garden City area. On June 12, 1956, he married Charlotte Frank in Garden City. Bob worked as Owner and Operator of Baier Auto Glass for 30 years. After retiring in 1997, Bob and Charlotte moved to Wichita, Kansas and returning to Garden City in 2003. They have lived in Garden City since.
Bob was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City; a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus; and the American Legion. His hobbies include traveling, golfing, tinkering, working in his yard, and loved playing cards with his family. His favorite pastime was taking care of his wife Charlotte, and being around his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attending their various activities.
Survivors include his wife Charlotte of the home; 4 children Lana (Randy) Pratt of Ada, OK, Steve (Noel) Baier of Tigard, OR, Jeanne (Darin) Bradstreet of Garden City KS, & Susie (John) Sander of Wichita, KS; a brother Bill Baier of Holcomb, KS; 9 grandchildren Andrew (Angela) Pratt of Ada, OK, Eric (Elise) Pratt of Heath, TX, Alissa (Christopher) Mullen of Ketchikan, AK, Brianne (Jon) Nicholson of Portland, OR, Sarah (Chris) Shrimplin of Garden City, KS, Abby Bradstreet of McPherson, KS, Lindsay (Tristan) Funk of Maize, KS, Andrea Miller of Wichita, KS, & Matthew (Anna) Sander of Rochester, MN; and 13 great-grandchildren Madison, Paisley, Codi, William, Emily, Everly, Luke, Carson, Caleb, Sadie, Benson, Aubrey, & Henrik.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Antone & Eleanor Baier; 6 brothers Albert Baier, Tony Baier, Richard Baier, Thomas Baier, Gary Baier, & John Baier; and 4 sisters Anita Savolt, Carolyn Benton, Mary Ann Metz, & Dorothy Fairchild.
A Vigil service and Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, also at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City with Military graveside rites conducted by the United States Army at Ft. Riley Honor Guard and the Southwest Kansas Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
