Brian Brannon Obituary

Brian Brannon March 5, 1944 - December 28, 2006 Brian Brannon, age 62, of Grand Junction passed away Thursday, December 28, 2006 at his home of a seizure disorder. Brian was born March 5, 1944 in New Hampton, IA to Raymond and Andrea Brannon. He spent his childhood in New Hampton, where he also graduated from high school. Following graduation, he attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA, and received his undergraduate degree from University of Iowa in 1966. Brian served as an Army Platoon leader in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968 and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. In 1973, Brian received his J.D. from the University of Iowa. Brian was a Grand Junction resident for 28 years, where he retired as a Trust Officer and Attorney. He was married to Jody Briner. They divorced in 1997. Brian was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and volunteered for many years at the Grand Valley Catholic Outreach soup kitchen. He was a member of the Grand Junction Rotary Club for 21 years and was a Paul Harris Fellow. His other interests included listening to classical music, researching Epilepsy Neuroscience, reading and skiing. He loved to pass out $2 bills! Survivors include his son, J. Douglas Kent; and daughter, Shannon Christine Kent both of San Francisco, CA; mother Andrea Y. Brannon of Cedar Falls, IA ; sisters, Maryellen Carr (William) of Rochester, MN; Audrey Sweitzer (Raymond) of Cedar Falls, IA; and Alissa Wilke (Joseph) of Springboro, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 10:00 am at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Valley Catholic Outreach Soup Kitchen, 243 So. 1st St, Grand Junction, CO, 81501.

My deepest sympathy in the loss of Brian Brannon. We knew his family when I was a kid/teenager. At Brian's they would let their daughter have the "big" slumber parties. He was a good mentor, Catholic, supporter, and genuine all around nice person. I am glad to have known Brian. Peace Be With You and God Bless You Brian.
