Carolyn Kendrick Obituary

Carolyn Kendrick

April 21, 1943 - February 19, 2021

Carolyn Marie (Brock) Kendrick was born on April 21, 1943, and passed away at HopeWest Hospice on February 19, 2021.

Carolyn was born and raised in Alliance, Ohio, the eldest of five children, to Lester and Denise (Bliss) Brock. After graduating high school she worked at a veterinary clinic, a natural fit due to her love of animals, both domestic and wild. She moved with her family to California and worked at a heavy-machine operation company.

In the early 1970s she moved to Grand Junction and worked as a secretary for Mountain Realty. She met the love of her life, J.D. Kendrick, during this time. They married in 1975, and were inseparable from that point on.

J.D. and Carolyn soon moved to Collbran, CO, where they owned and operated Timberline Realty for a number of years. Living in Collbran among all the wildlife and beautiful scenery was one of her fondest memories. They later moved back to Grand Junction.

Every January for over 40 years, Carolyn and J.D. traveled to Yuma, AZ. These winter trips were a huge part of their life, as were the many summertime travels up to the Coos Bay, Oregon area.

As a member of Gourd Art of Colorado, Carolyn was a passionate creator of turning gourds, many of which she grew in her own backyard, into works of art. She had a real knack for showcasing her love of the southwest.

Carolyn's faith in her Lord and Savior was always an integral part of her life. She was a dedicated member of the Redlands Community Church for many years, playing the piano and organ regularly as well as singing.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, J.D. Kendrick; sisters, Loueen (Ed) Pritchett, of Garden Grove, California, and Paula (Richard) Franco, of Fruita; brothers, Loren (Darlene) Brock, of Azusa, California, and Duane (Julie) Brock, of Grand Junction; step-children, Joe (Kerry) Kendrick and Pam Kendrick, of Grand Junction; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Carolyn was known for her kindness. She was loved and respected by her church family and many friends all over the country.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Contributions, in Carolyn's honor, can be made to HopeWest Hospice or Redlands Community Church.

Carolyn is such a sweet lady and a wonderful encourager; she always wore a smile. I loved having her as one of my pianists at church for so many years. I am blessed to have known her. Carolyn, you are missed.

Carolyn was such a lovely lady and a blessing to many around her. She will be missed in so many ways. She was also very involved with our local Grand Junction Christian Women's Network. Carolyn had a wonderful heart and shared it with everyone she met. Robin Bremner
