Charles Gunn Obituary

Charles Wayne Gunn
September 20, 1958 - December 7, 2014

Charles Wayne Gunn was born on September 20, 1958, in Los Angeles, California to his parents Wesley and Delfina Karma (Valdez) Dvorak. He passed away in Fruita, Colorado, on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the age of 56. Charles is preceded in death by both of his loving parents, and his nephews, Joseph and Chris Fresquez.
He is survived by his three sisters, Katherine Olson and her husband, Mike from Long Beach, California; Monica Meguiar-Mathews and her husband, Steve from Delta, Colorado, and Valerie Herrera and her husband, Michael from Las Vegas, Nevada. Charles also leaves behind three nephews and three nieces, Steven Herrera, Matthew Olson, Mark Olson, Kelley Herrera, Delfie Albert, and Katie Angelico. He is also survived by his step-father, Ron Dvorak, of Las Vegas, Nevada. Charles was blessed to have had a large extended family, including many uncles, aunts, cousins, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces.
Charles was raised in the Los Angeles area of Southern California, in the cities of Lynwood and Norwalk. He lost his father, Wesley, in 1974. Shortly after graduation from Norwalk High School in 1976, Charles and his youngest sister, Valerie, moved with his Mother to Delta, Colorado, and Charles remained a resident of the Western Slope of this state until his passing on Sunday, December 7th of this year. He was a long-time resident of the city of Fruita. He was also a faithful and loyal 24 year employee of CoorsTek Electronics in Grand Junction, from June of 1990 to June of 2014, having earned various promotions leading to his final position as a Quality Assurance Engineer II.
Charles often spoke of the various white water rafting trips he had taken with co-workers and friends, and he also enjoyed both fishing and hunting when able to do so.
He will always be remembered as a loving brother by his sisters, and he was cherished as a loving son to his parents until their passing. Memories of Charles' generous nature, his quick wit, dry sense of humor, and his beautiful smile will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Charlie was one of the kindest, most caring men I have ever known. He would give the shirt off his back for any of the friends he loved and we, who loved him dearly, would have done the same for him. We became his family over the years and will miss him so very much. Thank you Valerie for the love and care you showed your brother during his last days. I know he loved you dearly.

Charlie, I feel so honored to have known such a kind heart and loving soul. You did not deserve to be taken by Cancer and so young. You made your mark on our hearts and your absence is felt.
