Daniel Leo Swartzendruber
October 5, 1954 - January 6, 2015
Daniel Leo Swartzendruber was born on October 5, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa. He died at his cabin near Hotchkiss, Colorado, of natural causes, on January 6, 2015. He was 60 years old.
Dan grew up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He was the youngest of four sons born to Leo and Shirley Swartzendruber. He and his brothers loved to romp and play in the woods around their Glenwood home. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1973. Dan spent his adult years in Libby, Montana, where he worked as a logger. He married Connie Snyder in 1986; they divorced in 2005. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching his children play basketball and baseball. He moved back to Colorado in 2006, where he worked as a logger and as a miner at Oxbow Mine until October of 2013. His most enjoyable days were spent out of doors. He loved spending time with his friends and helping others.
Dan is survived by his two sons, Jacob Daniel of Goodland, Kansas, and Caleb Dean and wife, Natasha, of Libby, Montana; two step-children, April and Adrian Yavah; his parents, Leo and Shirley Swartzendruber of Grand Junction; brother, Jim and wife, Adrian, of Silt; brother, Steve and wife, Cindy, of Paonia; brother, Jon and wife, Sherell, of Loveland; numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Rd., Grand Junction.

Still thinking of the Swartzendruber family. He is someone that I will never forget. Growing up in Glenwood and those memories will always hold a special place in my heart. Hugs to the family. You are missed Danny. When he first came back to Glenwood he came to see me at work, first time I had seen him in a long time. I will never forget that hug or conversation. Thanks Danny for being in my life.

To the Swartzendruber family, my deepest condolences. It was a pleasure meeting Dan and his dad a couple of months back in my office. I can't believe Dan passed so quickly, however, I find comfort that he didn't have to suffer any more than what he did. May time bring peace to Dan's grieving family and friends.

I am so sorry for the loss of a son, a brother, and a father. I enjoyed talking with Dan each day before his shift would start. Dan was always honest and sincere. Dan understood life more than most ever will. I will indeed miss him.
