Ethel Tufly Obituary

Ethel Delene Tufly September 30, 1916 - January 10, 2007 Ethel Delene Tufly, 90, passed away at Bear Creek Nursing Home in Morrison, Colorado on January 10, 2007. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2007 at the Mountain View Bible Church in Lazear, CO with Pastor Jim Jesser officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Crawford, CO Visitation will be Sunday, January 14, 2007 from 4:00 to 6 p.m. at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss, CO. Delene was born September 30, 1916, in Loveland, Colorado, to Evert Ordell Bass and Ella Lillian Hann Bass. She lived with her family on the eastern slope north of Loveland until she was a senior in high school. Due to the depression and drought they moved to Fruita, Colorado and she graduated from Fruita Union High School in 1934. After high school she worked in Estes Park several summers and attended Pilar of Fire College. She returned to Fruita in December of 1935. May 29, 1936, Delene married John Tufly at the Brethren Church Parsonage in Fruita, Colorado. They farmed in the Fruita area until 1945 when they bought the Hartman ranch and moved to Maher, Colorado. In 1970 they sold the ranch and enjoyed traveling until moving to Hotchkiss in the early 1980's. She was a member of the Mountain View Bible Church at Lazear, where she enjoyed leading a bible study group. Delene also enjoyed reading, playing the accordion and piano, crocheting, and helping out at Senior Citizens. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and friends. Delene is survived by her daughters; LaVonne and husband Ervin Randermann of Weimar, Texas, Maxine and husband Willie Grisham of Morrison, Colorado, grandchildren; Lee Anne Merrill, Elaine Roberts, Bryan Tufly, Linda Latner, Leon Randermann, Melanie Matej, Jason Randermann, Belinda Tessean, Ronda Lunnon, and Rodney Grisham, 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Arlie and wife Jean Bass of Banning, CA. and sister-in-law Ollie May Bass of Fort Collins, CO. as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Delene was preceded in death by her husband John, and her son John Richard Tufly. Two sisters, Velma and husband Paul Smith, Esther Bass and a brother, Glen Bass.
