Janet Forsgren Obituary

Janet L. Forsgren July 10, 1937 – January 31, 2013 Janet L. Forsgren, died January 31, 2013, in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was born to Troy W. Linn and Lenore Butler Linn on July 10, 1937, in Superior, AZ. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Bruce Linn. She graduated from Palisade High in 1955. In 1960, she graduated from Colorado State College (Greeley, CO) with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Robert Downs in October, 1963 and had three daughters. In 1969, Robert sustained permanent injuries due to a motorcycle accident, which resulted in his death years later. She married Clyde Forsgren in March, 1973. This joined two families of three children each. Janet was an active and faithful member of the LDS church and served a mission to the Southern States Mission 1961-1963. She had a deep love of the scriptures and lived her life by those principles. She will be remembered for the unselfish service she offered to others. She was surrounded by many kind and amazing friends. She loved teaching Elementary School in Grand Junction. She deeply loved her family and was a caring grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Clyde Forsgren; one son, Scott (Karen) Forsgren, and five daughters, Debbie Pummel, Terrie (Ken) Heinecke, Terri Shepardson, and Martin Lewis all of Grand Junction; Lisa (Mike) Low of Salt Lake, and Aurora Kristy Downs of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Vicki Linn and her son, Craig Linn of Denver. Special thanks to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado and Community Hospital. The extra care and compassion shown to our family by Dr. Babnics and staff of Community Hospital was appreciated. Services will be Thursday, February 7th, 11:00 a.m. at LDS Chapel 2881 Orchard Ave., in Grand Junction under the direction of Martin Mortuary. Graveside service will be at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to LDS Humanitarian Services or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado.

I really didn't know Janet but was friends with Scott, Lisa, and their father. Scott did some needed work on my car. I was with Lisa in Single Adults and saw her again a few years ago at a real estate meeting in Salt Lake.
It is wonderful to be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and have knowledge of the Plan of Salvation.

Nothing but great memories of Janet. What wonderful times living next door to her in our teens. So many times we climbed on the backs of our horses and shared our bliss as we rode for hours.. Janet always positive and happy..

Grandma, I will never forget when you were getting your teaching degree and you would substitute in my kindergarten class at Columbine Elementary. I would be so excited and you would tell me, Misty you can't call me grandma you have to call me Mrs. Forsgren. Well I tried to call you Mrs. Forsgren but it just wasn't working for me. I told you grandma I can't call you Mrs. Forsgren cause your my grandma. You told me, I know it's hard but you got to really try cause then all the other kids will start calling me grandma and I'm not there grandma. I'm yours. So I said ok I will try. So when the class was playing I would tell my classmates that's my grandma but I have to call her Mrs. Forsgren. I was so proud my grandma was my teacher from time to time. But as I got older I realized my grandma was my teacher all of the time!! I love you grandma and I will miss you, but I will never forget you and everything you have done!!! Love your granddaughter Misty!
